In the charming city of Columbia, S.C., animal lovers are in for a treat as a pair of adorable female kittens is looking for a new place to call home. Meet Amy and Garland—a bonded pair that is just as playful as they are loving!
Amy and Garland’s story is quite touching. These two little furballs, alongside three other siblings, were found by a Good Samaritan when they were just tiny strays in dire need of help. Initially, their condition was quite concerning as they were very sick and battling upper respiratory infections. Pawmetto Lifeline, an organization that aims to help abandoned and sick animals, wasn’t even sure if the kittens would make it through.
Fortunately, the stars aligned when a fantastic foster mom stepped in. This dedicated woman took the kittens into her care, providing them with the love and medical attention they desperately needed. With her nurturing approach and commitment, she nursed them back to health—a true testament to the power of fostering!
Despite their recovery, Amy and Garland do face some challenges due to their past. The upper respiratory infections they suffered from early on left some lasting effects on their eyes. Sadly, Amy suffered a corneal rupture in her left eye, which means she will need to have the eye removed soon. Meanwhile, Garland’s eye is still being monitored, and while there may be a risk of rupture, it could simply be scarred, allowing her to keep the eye with some blurry vision.
But here’s the amazing part: these kittens are completely unaware of how they look compared to other felines. Their spirits remain undampened, and they embrace life with boundless joy. It’s truly inspiring how these animals don’t let their appearance define them, showcasing a wonderful lesson in resilience and acceptance.
Amy and Garland currently reside in the administrative offices at Pawmetto Lifeline, turning the usually quiet space into a playground of mischief and fun. These kittens are not just sweet but also incredibly energetic and playful! One of Garland’s quirkiest habits is her fondness for carrying around her toys in her mouth—it’s a sight that’s sure to bring a smile to your face!
Both girls enjoy being held, loved on, and included in whatever you might be up to. After a long day of play and exploration, they will happily cuddle up in your lap, drifting off to sleep. They truly are companions who thrive on connection and affection.
If you’re captivated by Amy and Garland and are considering bringing them into your home, you’re in luck! They are available for adoption during Pawmetto Lifeline’s walk-in hours, which are every Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. You can also schedule an appointment during the week for a more personal visit.
Plus, these wonderful kittens come with a reduced adoption fee of only $50, which includes their spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccines. What a deal for all the love and joy they have to offer!
If you’re ready to meet Amy and Garland, be sure to complete an adoption application online before your visit. It’s a small step that could lead to a lifetime of furry companionship!
As we share in the joy of these kittens’ journey, let’s remember the importance of fostering and adoption. Every animal deserves a second chance, and with loving families, they can flourish. Let’s help get the word out about Amy and Garland, and many other pets in need. You never know; your perfect feline friend could be waiting for you!
