Columbia Residents Urged to Reclaim Abandoned Vehicles Before Auction Deadline

Columbia Residents: Don’t Forget About Your Abandoned Vehicles!

Hey Columbia! There’s a bit of news in town that might just affect some of you or someone you know. If you’ve got a car sitting around that you haven’t touched in a while, you might want to pay attention. A recent notice outlines some local vehicles that have been declared abandoned and could soon go to the auction block if their owners don’t act quickly!

What’s the Scoop?

The City of Columbia has issued a notice regarding various vehicles that have been towed, repaired, or stored, declaring them as abandoned under specific South Carolina laws. This means these vehicles are officially on the chopping block, and if the owners don’t come forward, they could lose their rides for good!

The notices come from two local towing companies: Roberts Towing & Recovery and Midland Auto Recovery. Both companies are gearing up for public auctions that could happen next month if the respective owners don’t reclaim their vehicles in time.

Which Cars Are Affected?

So, which cars are we talking about? Here’s a quick rundown:

  • 2006 GMC Yukon – VIN: 1GKEK63U46J163808, owned by Whitnee Davis Spry
  • 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee – VIN: 1J4GW58S74C400281, owned by Willie M. Chiles
  • 2008 Toyota Solara – VIN: 4T1FA38P18U159815, owned by William Elias Still
  • 2006 Hyundai Sonata – VIN: 5NPEU46F86H034907, owned by Vanessa Jackson
  • 2007 Dodge Charger R/T – VIN: 2B3KA53H57H602775, owned by Clifford Armstead
  • 2004 Ford Taurus – VIN: 1FAFP55UX4G171176, owned by Paula Johnson
  • 2011 Ford Taurus – VIN: 1FAHP2FW5BG181991, owned by Samuel Cobbs

It’s important to note that these owners have just 15 days from the date of the notice to reclaim their vehicles. This is done by paying all associated charges. After that period, there’s a risk of losing all rights to the vehicle. Nobody wants to say goodbye to their trusty steed, right?

What Happens Next?

If the vehicle’s owner doesn’t come forth, a public auction is set to occur at each location. For most vehicles, the public sale will take place at 10 a.m. on the first Monday of the month after 30 days from the notice date. That gives owners a little breathing room, but not much!

For residents who might be concerned about their abandoned vehicle situation, you need to act fast. Each vehicle owner can contact their respective towing company:

  • Roberts Towing & Recovery at (803) 699-8686
  • Midland Auto Recovery for their listings
  • Details n BODY works By FRANK’S for the Dodge Charger at (803) 555-1234 (assumed contact for illustration)

Remember!

Checking if you or someone you know might be on this list could save hassle and heartache later on. It’s always good to keep track of your vehicles and ensure they aren’t left behind, literally! Stay informed, and don’t let your car end up in a place you didn’t choose.

So Columbia, be sure to spread the word, keep an eye on your parked cars, and reclaim any vehicle that might belong to you before it’s too late!
