Waterloo High School Volleyball Teams Shine in Section V Class B Tournament Action

Waterloo High School Advances in Girls Volleyball Section V Tournament

WATERLOO, NY – The girls volleyball team from Waterloo High School made a strong showing on Thursday evening as they competed in the Section V Class B quarterfinals. The No. 5 seeded team took on No. 12 Palmyra-Macedon and successfully came out on top, winning the match in four sets. The final score was 3-1, with set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-15, and 25-21. This victory allows Waterloo to advance to the next round of the tournament.

Waterloo senior Natalie Jones, number 11, played a key role in the match, showcasing her skills at the net. Throughout the game, she battled against Pal-Mac junior Alana Rease, who attempted to block many of Jones’ powerful hits. Meanwhile, Pal-Mac senior Kristen Fong, who wore number 3, also put in a commendable effort, contributing significantly to her team.

In addition to Waterloo’s match, the No. 6 Mynderse Academy also had an impressive performance on the same night, defeating No. 11 Rochester Prep in straight sets at Seneca Falls Middle School. The match was called in favor of Mynderse with scores of 25-7, 25-9, and 25-22. Mynderse’s standout players included Cheyenne Mangum, who achieved 9 aces and 9 assists, Kyle Kolbash with 5 kills and 3 aces, and Hannah O’Brien, who added 5 kills to the scoreboard.

As the tournament continues, Waterloo will face No. 4 Aquinas Institute in the quarterfinals at a TBD location, with details yet to be confirmed. Similarly, Mynderse will battle against No. 3 Wellsville on November 2 at 2 p.m.

This exciting round of sectional volleyball showcases the talent and sportsmanship of local high school athletes. Fans are encouraged to support their teams as they strive for excellence in this competitive playoff season.
