Unseasonably Warm November Kicks Off in Columbia, S.C.
Hey there, Columbia! As we step into November, we’ve got some pretty remarkable weather on our hands. Believe it or not, we’re experiencing temperatures that are feeling more like early fall than the start of winter! Today, you can expect high temperatures to cozy up in the lower 80s, which is way above what you might usually anticipate this time of year.
A Warm Halloween and Record Dryness
Just yesterday, on Halloween, Columbia basked in splendid warmth, with highs climbing into the lower to middle 80s. Can you imagine? The Columbia airport reported a balmy high of 83 degrees, while just a little further afield, Orangeburg even hit 84 degrees! I guess we can say the ghosts and goblins had some nice weather to enjoy while trick-or-treating.
And here’s something that might surprise you: Columbia just had its driest October on record, finishing the month with only a trace of rainfall. This means we hardly saw any wet weather, and as a result, almost all of South Carolina is facing abnormally dry conditions. If you were wondering about watering your plants or planning any outdoor activities, now you know!
What’s Coming Up?
Looking ahead, it seems that we’ll be greeted by more dry days and uncharacteristically warm temps for a little while longer. Today should stay comfortable with partly cloudy skies helping us enjoy those high temperatures in the lower 80s.
Then, get ready for a slight dip in those temperatures when a dry cold front sweeps through late Saturday. After that, Sunday will shift a bit cooler, pushing highs down into the middle 70s, under pretty cloudy skies. So, if you’re planning anything outdoors, the start of the weekend should still be delightful, but don’t forget to grab a light jacket for those cooler Sunday vibes!
Rain? Maybe Later!
As we roll into early next week, Monday is predicted to stay around the middle 70s and carry on with that partly cloudy approach. There’s a slow warming trend expected Tuesday through Thursday, where we might even venture back into the lower 80s again. And hold on—there’s a slim chance of rain showing up on Wednesday and Thursday, but let’s not get our hopes too high, as the odds appear pretty low for a significant downpour.
Looking Back in Time
So there you have it, Columbia! As we continue enjoying this bizarrely warm start to November, don’t forget to soak in that sunshine and keep an eye on the sky for those upcoming changes in the weather. Enjoy the mild November days, and keep your fingers crossed for a few nourishing raindrops down the line!
