Vermont High School Fall Sports Scores and Highlights
As the 2024 Vermont high school fall season kicks off, several teams have already displayed impressive skills on the field and court. Here’s a round-up of the latest scores and standout performances from games played recently.
Soccer
The girls’ soccer match between South Burlington and Burlington ended in a 1-1 draw. Ella Knudsen scored for Burlington while Lucia Ward found the net for South Burlington. Great goalkeeping was showcased with Noelle Sweetser making 6 saves and Gillian Bachand notching 7 saves.
Milton secured a solid 4-1 victory against Rice. Logan Freeman contributed significantly with 1 goal and 2 assists, while Cianna Tomasi scored 3 goals in the second half alone. Rice’s Reese Billings managed to find the back of the net once.
Peoples put on a dominating performance, defeating Lyndon 11-0. Harrison Frazee was a standout, scoring 5 goals, contributing to what has been the team’s best season in 19 years with a 12-2 record overall.
Field Hockey
Stowe faced a tough match, losing 0-7 against Milton, with Ainsley Carr netting 2 goals to spearhead the charge.
Volleyball
In volleyball, Essex won against BFA-St. Albans with a clean sweep, taking all three sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-21). Colchester also performed well, winning 3-0 against Missisquoi, with scores of 25-12, 25-23, and 25-8.
Looking ahead, more exciting matches are scheduled, including Champlain Valley taking on Rice and rival games featuring Mount Mansfield at BFA-St. Albans.
