This week, the fall sports season in Vermont has officially begun with a series of competitive games across various sports, including soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running.
In field hockey, the game between Windsor and Fair Haven ended with a narrow victory for Windsor, finishing 1-0. Olivia Dube made a difference with a goal and Audrey McFarland collected an assist in the match. Tatum Flanigan also showed her skills with one important save.
Mount Abraham managed a convincing win against Fair Haven with a score of 2-0, as Louisa Painter and Isla Underwood both found the net early in the game. Hazel Stoddard recorded 3 saves to secure the victory. Also, in another match, Enosburg narrowly defeated Missisquoi 1-0, thanks to a goal from Ava Wedin.
On the volleyball court, Burlington showcased their offensive power, beating St. Johnsbury decisively with a score of 8-2. Quinn Sessions and Kade Ladner both scored 2 goals each, with Fields DeShaw contributing 1 goal and 2 assists. One of Burlington’s goals came from an own goal by St. Johnsbury.
The golf scene saw Namo Seibert from Mount Mansfield take home the medalist honors with an impressive score of 36 at West Bolton. Other notable scores included Sarah Krauss and Riley LaBonte from Essex who played well, contributing to a strong team performance.
