Master of the Blues, Tab Benoît, bringing a Year-Long Tour to New Orleans
NEWBERRY— Louisiana’s renowned Bayou blues guitarist Tab Benoît will be bringing his year-long 2024 Night Train Tour to the Newberry Opera House, located at 1201 Kibben St., on Thursday, April 18. The talented Anthony Rosano & The Conqueroos, who recently released their album “Cheat The Devil” under Benoît’s Whiskey Bayou Records label, will be performing as well.

About Tab Benoit
One of the most admired guitarists to rise from the plush Bayous of Southern Louisiana in the past years, Benoît’s unique guitar tone is easily recognizable even before his memorable Otis-Redding-esque voice resonates from the speakers.
Benoît, born on November 17, 1967, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, still resides in his hometown – the oil and fishing town of Houma. Influenced early on by traditional Cajun waltzes and country music on his hometown’s only radio station, Benoît soon became a master of the music that surrounded him. Initially a drummer, he shifted to guitar due to the limitations on playing loud drums at local events where the only gigs available were in churches and at church fairs.
Tab Benoit’s Successful Journey
Since the late 80’s, Benoit had found his niche in blues, learning first-hand from blues legends at the Blues Box, a music club and cultural center in Baton Rouge. Benoit kickstarted his touring career in the 90s and has kept up a rigorous schedule of over two-hundred and fifty shows a year for more than two decades now, making him Louisiana’s Number One Blues export.
His music evolved further after he signed with the Telarc International/Concord Music Group in 2002, utilizing his fame to draw attention to Louisiana’s coastal erosion problems. His album, “Medicine” bagged several prestigious awards, crowning him the “BB King Entertainer of the Year” at the 2012 Blue Music Awards in Memphis. Also, his record label, Whiskey Bayou Records, has released celebrated albums by numerous established artists, including Damon Fowler, Eric Johanson, and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux.
