This case centers around the authority wielded by Dominion Energy to “adjust and increase its retail electric rate schedules, tariffs, and terms and conditions”, according to the official press release.

Intensive Review Process

As part of the review process, Public Service Commission will be conducting hearings in four different locations across the state on four different dates. The first of these sessions is slated to be held on May 30 at 6 p.m. at the Aiken County Government Centre in Aiken, South Carolina. The following hearing is scheduled for June 10 at 6 p.m. to be held in the Bluffton Town Council Chambers located in Bluffton, South Carolina.

The third hearing has been planned for June 27 at 6 p.m. at the Lonnie Hamilton Public Services Building in North Charleston, South Carolina. The final hearing will take place on July 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m, and again from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., to be held in the Public Service Commission Hearing Room located in Columbia, South Carolina.

As an important requirement, those who intend to testify must pre-register no later than one business day before each hearing session on the Public Service Commission’s official website.

Continued Investigation

This schedule announcement forms a significant part of the continued investigation into Dominion Energy’s authority regarding adjustments and increases in retail electric rate schedules. By facilitating public hearings, the Public Service Commission ensures the public’s voice is accounted for in this pivotal case.

The commission’s work prioritizes public interest within the scope of public utility regulation. This case serves as an excellent exemplar of their efforts. Though the outcomes of these hearings cannot be preempted, the process ensures Dominion Energy South Carolina’s authority is thoroughly examined and accurately ascertained.

Public Participation Encouraged

Encouraging public participation in the fairness of utility rates marks a solid step in keeping forth transparency in public services. This initiative by the Public Service Commission of South Carolina actively involves the citizens in decisions that may directly impact them and their utility costs. By providing the public with a platform to voice their concerns or comments, these public hearings ensure an equitable examination of Dominion Energy’s authority.
