South Carolina Highway Patrol Appeals for Public Help in Identifying Driver Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident

South Carolina Highway Patrol Seeks Information in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident

JASPER, SOUTH CAROLINA – A tragic incident occurred between Sunday, April 28th and Monday, April 29th, which involved a hit-and-run fatal accident. A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and fatally injured, subsequently dying as a result of the collision. The vehicle in question fled the tragic scene, prompting an immediate investigation.

Investigation Details

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a metallic gray 1999-2004 Chevrolet Silverado was involved in the incident. The specific circumstances surrounding the accident, including the reason for the hit-and-run, remain unclear.

Despite substantial efforts, the vehicle and its driver have yet to be located. The South Carolina Highway Patrol therefore seeks public assistance in hopes of identifying the driver and bringing them to justice.

Witnesses who observed any unusual activity or a vehicle matching the description are encouraged to contact the highway patrol. Any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could prove critical to the progress of the investigation.

Appeal for Information

Persons with information related to the accident are urged to reach out to the Highway Patrol on 843-953-6010 or 1-800-768-1501. Alternatively, Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry can be contacted on 843-554-1111. The Highway Patrol reassures informants that their identities will be protected.

Eyes on the Public

As the search for the person responsible continues, the sense of worry within the community grows. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is relying heavily on the public’s eye and the pooling of information to aid their investigation.

Their main requirement at this time is the identity of the individual behind the wheel, and they hope with public cooperation the hit-and-run individual will be swiftly identified and adequately penalized for their actions.

Community’s Role

While the criminal hunt continues, the community Reflections and condolences pour out in memory of the victim. In such times, community unity and cooperation are pivotal in progressing the investigation and bringing justice to the fore, ensuring such a tragedy does not repeat itself.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol encourages the public to stay alert and spread the word to contribute to the investigation and, ultimately, to the prevention of similar incidents in the future.
