Columbia Welcomes Back Robinson Room with a Fresh Look
Columbia is buzzing with excitement as Robinson Room, the popular dessert and cocktail bar, has officially made its return! The much-loved spot reopened on November 7, 2023, and fans are thrilled to check out the new digs at 1625 Main St.. It’s not far from where it last called home, just across the street at 1614 Main St., but this new location is set to offer a revamped experience for all who stop by.
A Sweet Transition
Robinson Room’s journey has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Originally located on the lower floor of The Grand on Main, the dessert paradise moved to its last spot in spring 2023, only to close that location in mid-October. Now, they are back and ready to serve up some delicious treats and cocktails once again! On a recent visit, a big, colorful banner proudly announced the reopening, promising a warm welcome for customers eager to indulge in their famous desserts.
New Location, New Flavors
The new Robinson Room nestles perfectly between The Grand on Main restaurant and a fun boutique bowling alley, right next to the Sweet Cream Co. ice cream shop. Talk about a dessert lover’s paradise! The vibe? Cozy, chic, and ready for nights filled with good company and tasty concoctions.
While they are back in business, Robinson Room isn’t quite done with the upgrades just yet. The restaurant recently took to social media to share their excitement, noting, “While Robinson Room makes its return, we’re not quite finished with our glow up just yet—but couldn’t keep your favorite cocktails and desserts from you.” So, what can customers expect? Brace yourselves for an array of new savory tapas, delightful desserts, and an all-new fall cocktail menu that’s sure to tantalize your taste buds!
The Bigger Picture
This reopening is just one part of a bustling wave of changes for LTC Hospitality Group, which is owned by the well-known Middleton family of Columbia. This influential family is behind several local favorites in the Main Street District, including Smoked, Hanabi Hibachi and Sushi, and Chapin’s 518 Smokehouse, among others. The recent shifting landscape also saw the closure of the long-standing Good Life Cafe, which had made its home at 1614 Main St. and earlier at 1216 Taylor St. before closing its doors on October 11.
But it’s not all farewells! LTC has also opened a shiny new breakfast and lunch spot called 1624 Bistro at 1624 Main St.. That’s right, there’s no shortage of delicious dining spots popping up in the area!
What’s Next for Robinson Room
The excitement doesn’t stop here! On top of the new menus and relocation, Peak Drift Brewing, co-owned by family members Greg Middleton and Sara Middleton Styles, has also announced they’re adjusting plans for a new taproom at their facility on 3452 North Main St.. Instead, they’ll concentrate on production and distribution, with their official taproom residing at Smoked, blending thoughtfully crafted beers with delicious meals.
