New Recycling Drop-Off Schedule in Richland County

Hello, Richland County! We’ve got some friendly news for all you eco-conscious residents and businesses out there. Starting on Monday, September 9, both of the County’s drop-off sites for recycling and junk disposal will be on a new, more user-friendly schedule. This is a fantastic update designed to make your life easier and keep our community clean!

What’s New?

The two drop-off centers will have a consistent operating schedule so you won’t have to guess when you can drop off your recyclables or unwanted items. The Lower Richland Drop-Off Center, located at 10531 Garners Ferry Rd. (phone: 803-776-2324), and the Clemson Road Recycling Center, found at 900 Clemson Rd. (phone: 803-576-2440), will now be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, Tuesday through Saturday. Both locations will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. This change is all about reducing the confusion that sometimes comes with varying schedules.

Why the Change?

The folks in charge are hoping this new schedule will help people plan much better and maximize the use of the staff and resources available at these sites. By having the same hours for drop-off at both locations, it allows a smoother operation, making it easier for both residents and businesses alike!

What About the Landfill?

It’s important to note that this new schedule does not affect the County’s Construction and Demolition (C&D) Landfill Drop-Off Center. Located at 1070 Caughman Rd. N in Columbia (phone: 803-576-2390), this spot will continue its current hours from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Sundays will still be a day of rest, as it remains closed.

What Can You Drop-Off?

So, what can you actually drop off at the Clemson and Lower Richland sites? Here’s a quick rundown of acceptable items for residential drop-offs only: If you’re thinking of tossing out household garbage, clothing, or shoes, don’t worry! Those items can be taken to the Waste Management Landfill located at 1047 Highway Church Rd., Elgin (phone: 803-744-3345). Just make sure you’re bringing the right stuff to keep our reduction efforts in check!

A Cleaner Community Awaits!

These changes are intended to make things a bit simpler for everyone in Richland County. Regular, easy-to-remember hours at both drop-off sites will help you do your part in keeping our beautiful community clean and green. So mark your calendars and get ready to drop off your recyclables! Together, we can ensure our county remains a lovely place to live, work, and play.

Stay Informed!

As always, it’s a good idea to stay updated on any further changes. Stay tuned for more local news as we work together for a cleaner, greener future!
