Pottstown Celebrates Hill School's Undefeated Field Hockey Season

In Pottstown, the Hill School field hockey team celebrated a remarkable achievement Tuesday night by wrapping up an undefeated season as they triumphed over the Academy of Notre Dame with a score of 5-1 in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) championship held at Ursinus College. With this victory, Hill School, ranked No. 1 nationally by MAX Field Hockey, completed their season with a perfect record of 22-0.

This game was a significant rematch of last year’s PAISAA title game, where Notre Dame had narrowly defeated Hill, 1-0. Under the guidance of first-year head coach Katherine Bowie, the team came out strong and showed determination to reclaim their title.

The match was tightly contested in the first half, but the game shifted dramatically for Hill School in the second half, as they scored four unanswered goals. Senior Ella Kaplan from Shaker Heights, Ohio, led the scoring surge with two goals. Kaplan’s first goal, assisted by sophomore Haley Elliott from Blue Bell, gave Hill the lead in the third quarter.

Following Kaplan’s lead, senior Aubrey Turner from Downingtown added another goal on a corner play. Turner later assisted junior Opal Sparling from Chester Springs, further extending the lead to 4-1. Kaplan added her second goal in the fourth quarter, solidifying the team’s victory.

This victory marks Hill School’s second state prep title, with their first one being achieved in 2022. The undefeated season and recent championship victory highlight the dedication and skill of the Hill School athletes, as well as the strong leadership of their coaching staff.
