High School Sports Weekly Recap – December 15, 2024
This past Sunday in Pennsylvania, high school basketball teams showcased their talent in various matchups. The results were exciting, especially for the girls’ teams, as they continue to battle it out in the early stages of the season.
In a thrilling nonsection game, the Avon Lake (Ohio) team pulled off a victory against North Allegheny with a score of 54-42. Seneca Valley also marked their success with a hard-fought win over Conwell-Egan, finishing at 49-42. Additionally, North Catholic narrowly defeated Bishop O’Connell (Va.) with a final score of 54-52.
Looking ahead, Monday’s basketball schedule features several intriguing matchups. In class 5A Section 1, Penn Hills will take on Franklin Regional at 7:30 p.m., while Plum heads to Armstrong at the same time. Other notable games include Kiski Area at Indiana and McKeesport visiting Greensburg Salem, each also set for 7:30 p.m.
Further down the schedule, class 4A will see Freeport at North Catholic at 6:00 p.m., and several law enforcement teams will be in action including Derry at Valley and Highlands at Oakland Catholic, with both games at 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
The excitement doesn’t stop there, as hockey teams will also be playing on Monday night. Class 3A features matches like Pine-Richland facing Franklin Regional at 6:30 p.m., while Thomas Jefferson goes up against Upper St. Clair at 7:00 p.m. For Class A, Freeport will compete against Wheeling Park at Wesbanco Arena at 6:00 p.m.
As the season continues, excitement is sure to grow as these young athletes compete for victory. Fans can catch all the action and results this week as teams clash in various sports.
