If you’re a fan of slurping down those rainbow-colored New Orleans-style snoballs, we’ve got some mixed news for you! Pelican’s SnoBalls has just announced that they’ll be closing their North Main Street location in Columbia. That’s right, the shop at 2404 Main St. will close its doors permanently at the end of the 2025 season. The news came in a social media blast on Instagram and Facebook, and Pelican’s took a moment to thank the loyal folks in the NoMa community for all the sweet memories.
The North Main location, which just moved there in 2022 from a previous spot on 2700 block of Main , has been a local go-to for mouth-watering shaved ice treats. Pelican’s SnoBalls is beloved for offering over 100 delightful flavors of their signature snoballs—perfect for cooling down on those hot summer days. With more than 200 locations across 14 states, Pelican’s has established a strong presence, especially here in South Carolina.
In an exciting turn of events, while they’re closing one door, they’re opening another! Pelican’s SnoBalls will be planting their flag in Anderson, SC, with a brand new location set to open at 146 Civic Center Blvd. in June 2025. This new store is not just a replacement; it aims to cater to increasing demand from locals who’ve been driving to other Pelican’s spots to satisfy their snoball cravings.
The new Anderson location promises to serve up the same buttery-soft shaved ice that fans can’t get enough of, along with specialty flavors unique to this spot. Your neighborhood hangout will be perfect for families looking to chill out—complete with games, tables, and outdoor umbrellas for those sunny days. Operating seven days a week, you can swing by from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
The Anderson store will be situated close to the vibrant Anderson Sports and Entertainment Complex, making it a fantastic stop for families and sports fans alike after a game or event. Imagine the fun gatherings over snoballs while enjoying a sunny day out with family and friends.
Founded in North Carolina and inspired by the classic New Orleans concept, Pelican’s has mastered the art of snoball-making. Their secret? A finer texture of shaved ice that provides a smoother eating experience and keeps syrup waste to a minimum—because who likes soggy snow cones, right?
Even though the North Main location will be no more, Pelican’s SnoBalls is geared up to keep the fun going in other areas of Columbia, along with this exciting new chapter in Anderson. So, if you’ve got a sweet tooth and are looking for a great spot this summer, mark your calendar for 2025 when you can dive into those delectable snoballs without needing to travel far!
With heartfelt gratitude to their loyal customers and a new adventure on the horizon, Pelican’s SnoBalls is excited for what’s next. As always, they are dedicated to keeping our taste buds tantalized with their delicious flavors.
