Sponsor Our ArticlesLexington County is set to welcome a new shopping center located at 2552 Augusta Highway, anchored by a Target store. Developed by 413 Solutions, this 206,000 square foot retail space will cover 27 acres and is expected to open in fall 2026. As the population grows, this center aims to enhance local amenities, though some residents have concerns about potential traffic and safety issues. The chairman of 413 Solutions, Emmitt Smith, is excited about the project and plans to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Lexington County is buzzing with excitement as plans have been unveiled for a brand new shopping center set to brighten the area! Anchored by a much-anticipated Target store, this shopping haven will be located at 2552 Augusta Highway, directly across from the well-known Lexington High School. Talk about a prime spot!
The development of this charming center is in the capable hands of 413 Solutions, a company based out of Dallas. They made the big announcement in a news release on February 5, generating a wave of enthusiasm among locals who are looking forward to this new addition. The shopping center is not just any ordinary retail center; it is described as a “cutting edge shopping center” and is expected to open in fall 2026.
Spanning about 27 acres of currently undeveloped and mostly wooded land, the site is certainly going to transform the landscape of Lexington. With the help of commercial real estate firm NAI Columbia, the land was secured in December 2023, ensuring that this project is already well on its way!
The timing couldn’t be better as Lexington is experiencing some serious growth. The population in the county has skyrocketed from 216,000 in 2000 to over 309,000 in 2023. With new residential communities popping up along Augusta Highway, the need for more shopping and amenities is becoming more evident. The addition of this shopping center is bound to enhance the area even further.
Once completed, this shopping plaza will encompass just over 206,000 square feet of fabulous retail space. Residents can look forward to not only the Target store but also a wide array of other retail options that aim to serve that growing community. Nearby, you can already find popular spots like Lowes Foods, Publix, Little Caesars, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Bojangles, Planet Fitness, and Zaxby’s; and with the new shopping center, it seems like more great options are merely around the corner!
As with any big development, responses from area residents are mixed. Many are thrilled about the prospect of a new Target being added to the neighborhood, providing a convenient spot for shopping. However, there are also concerns among some locals about potential traffic congestion and safety, including worries about crime. This is a common discussion with any major development, but the developers are committed to improving the flow of traffic in the area, aiming to address these issues proactively.
Interestingly enough, the chairman of 413 Solutions is none other than Emmitt Smith, the legendary former Dallas Cowboys running back and the NFL’s all-time leading rusher! Emmitt has expressed his excitement and plans to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the plaza when it finally opens. This adds a fun star-studded flair to the whole affair!
All in all, the new shopping center promises to be a major boost for local businesses and residents alike. As it adds more shopping options, it also contributes to community growth and vibrancy. With the anticipated opening still a bit of time off, residents have something exciting to look forward to in the coming years! Keep an eye on Lexington, as it’s shaping up to be an even more exciting place to live!
