New Recycling Schedule Introduced for Richland County Residents Starting September 9

Recycling Schedule Update

New Recycling Schedule for Richland County Residents

Welcome, Richland County residents! If you’ve been using the County’s drop-off sites for recycling and junk disposal, we’ve got some exciting news for you. Starting on Monday, September 9, both the Lower Richland Drop-Off Center and the Clemson Road Recycling Center are adopting a new schedule that promises to be more user-friendly and convenient.

What’s Changing?

Gone are the days of juggling multiple hours and trying to remember when each site is open. From now on, both centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, while Sundays and Mondays will be completely off-limits. This new routine was designed to help reduce confusion and better utilize the staff and resources at the recycling locations.

Just a quick note: this schedule change only affects the two recycling drop-off centers mentioned earlier. The C&D Landfill Drop-Off Center, located at 1070 Caughman Rd. N in Columbia, will keep its current hours, which are from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays, closed on Sundays.

Where Can You Go?

For those utilizing the Lower Richland Drop-Off Center, you’ll find it at 10531 Garners Ferry Rd. and can reach them at (803) 776-2324. The Clemson Road Recycling Center is situated at 900 Clemson Rd., and their phone number is (803) 576-2440.

What Can You Recycle?

Now, you might be wondering what exactly you can take to these centers. While there are plenty of acceptable materials for your drop-offs, it’s essential to know that they are limited to residential items only. Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Plastic bottles
  • Cans
  • Cardboard
  • Paper
  • Some electronics

Items that are not accepted at these centers include household garbage, clothing, or shoes. If you have such items to dispose of, don’t worry. You can take those to the Waste Management Landfill located at 1047 Highway Church Rd., Elgin, and you can call them at (803) 744-3345 for more info.

Why the New Schedule?

So why all these changes, you ask? The decision to streamline the drop-off hours was made to help clear up any potential confusion about when the centers are open and aid the staff in managing resources more effectively. After all, when less confusion is involved, everyone benefits! Less time spent figuring out when to drop off means more time for you to do the things you love.

Spread the Word!

We encourage all residents to share this news with friends, family, and neighbors so they can take advantage of the new schedule. Getting involved in recycling and responsible waste disposal not only helps our environment but also strengthens our community.

Final Thoughts

We hope this new schedule makes it even easier for you to recycle and dispose of unwanted items. Remember to mark your calendars for September 9th, and don’t hesitate to reach out to the centers directly if you have any questions. Here’s to a cleaner, greener Richland County!
