RIDGELAND, SC – Big changes are coming to the charming town of Ridgeland, thanks to a significant investment by Senn Brothers Produce. This family-owned produce distributor is set to expand its operations with a shiny new facility, bringing prosperity and fresh produce closer to the community. The sweet sound of success rings in the air, as Senn Brothers is putting $2.9 million on the table to create 19 new jobs!
Situated in the vibrant Cypress Ridge Business Park, the new facility will include cold storage and office space, which will allow for expanded services that cater to the bustling markets of Hilton Head and Savannah. Isn’t it fantastic to think that local farmers will have more opportunities to connect their fresh produce with eager buyers? As the company President Gregg Senn proudly stated, “We recognized a need for a locally owned South Carolina produce distributor.”
Founded way back in 1944, Senn Brothers Produce has been a stalwart in providing locally sourced produce since its inception. With this new development, Senn Brothers is not just about providing fresh fruits and veggies; they also aim to support our hardworking farmers, making it easier for them to bring their goods to market. What a win-win situation!
The expansion comes with some backing from the state too! The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a generous $75,000 Set-Aside grant to Jasper County. This grant will help cover costs associated with site preparation and the building’s construction. That’s some solid support for our local economy!
Local officials are thrilled about the new jobs and the positive impact this will have on Jasper County. Jasper County Council Chairman Marty Sauls expressed excitement about welcoming Senn Brothers Produce, saying, “Thank you for your investment and the new jobs you are creating.” It’s clear that the county is committed to fostering a business-friendly atmosphere for Senn Brothers and other industries to thrive.
Not only is this expansion great for job creation, but it’s also a strong statement about the resilience and growth of the agriculture sector in South Carolina. Governor Henry McMaster voiced his support, noting, “Agribusiness has long been one of South Carolina’s leading industries, and today’s announcement is further proof that it continues to flourish.” It’s an uplifting sentiment that underscores the importance of agriculture to the state’s economy.
Operations at the new Ridgeland facility are expected to kick off in the third quarter of 2026. With ambitious plans in place, Senn Brothers Produce aims to enhance their distribution network, connecting more people to local food sources. The excitement is palpable, and many in the community are looking forward to the positive changes this new facility will bring.
As Ridgeland gears up for this transformation, we can all feel optimistic about the benefits that will stem from Senn Brothers Produce’s expansion. More jobs, fresher produce, and a stronger agricultural network are just around the corner. Who knows? The next time you bite into a crisp apple from your local grocery store, it just might have come from our own backyard!
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting journey as we welcome Senn Brothers Produce and look towards a bright future!
