New Hotel Planned at Columbia Metropolitan Airport to Enhance Travel Experience and Boost Local Business

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A New Hotel is on the Horizon!

Exciting news is buzzing around Columbia Metropolitan Airport as plans are underway to build a brand-new hotel right at the airport! In collaboration with Colliers International, a prominent property management company, the airport is getting ready to introduce a four-story hotel that will not only enhance the travel experience but also boost local business.

What to Expect?

The proposed hotel will be sprawled across four acres of land and will feature 150 guest rooms to accommodate travelers and locals alike. With direct access to the airport and terminals, this hotel aims to attract both business and leisure travelers who prefer the convenience of staying close to the airport.

According to Alia Bostaji, the spokesperson for Colliers International, the timeline for construction is still in limbo. “We can be talking in a year about starting construction,” she noted, adding it will depend largely on finding the right contractor or developer to get the ball rolling on this exciting project.

Beautifying the Airport Area

Bostaji also mentioned that the airport has been conducting studies to ensure that the hotel will be a great addition to the area. One of the initiatives in play is the beautification of the drive from the highway to the airport, a project that the city of West Columbia is reportedly committed to undertaking in the next year or so. “That is going to be a bonus,” she remarked, hinting at the lovely changes visitors can expect.

A Rooftop Bar and More!

While there are still many details to work out, one of the exciting features of the hotel will include a rooftop bar and restaurant, which will not only offer delicious meals but a stunning view of the area. Bostaji expressed that there might also be a meeting room incorporated into the design, perfect for hosting small training sessions or events.

Community Reactions

As news spreads about the new hotel, local residents have mixed feelings. Many are quite enthusiastic about the potential hotel. “I think that it would be a good idea to have a hotel near the airport versus having to travel out into the city to find a hotel,” expressed one resident, who sees it as a great convenience for both travelers and the city.

However, not everyone is convinced the project will be smooth sailing. Clinton Seawright, a local community member, expressed concerns about potential traffic issues that could arise. “I think a lot of people will complain about the traffic because you have the schools right there, and then you’ve got the rehabilitation center there. But I mean, if they add more stoplights and signs, it will be okay,” he commented, showcasing a common concern among community members about increased congestion.

Looking Ahead

The project is still in the early stages of planning, and it might take up to two years before the construction actually begins. Residents and travelers alike will have to wait patiently as plans unfold and the details get hammered out. But one thing is for sure: excitement is building, and everyone is eager to see how this new hotel will transform the Columbia Metropolitan Airport area!
