Lexington Welcomes New Barbershop with a Fresh Look
Lexington, South Carolina, is buzzing with excitement as a new barbershop, Circa Barbershop, opens its doors on East Main Street. This new location has been transformed from a historic building’s basement into a chic, welcoming space thanks to the hard work of Chapin Commercial Construction.
A Space for Community and Connection
After five years honing her skills at Circa, Halie Holland has taken the brave step of opening her very own barbershop. Her enthusiasm is palpable as she describes her vision. “It’s about creating an experience,” she shares with a warm smile. “We’re not just here to give haircuts; we want each client to feel like they’re part of our family.”
Indeed, Halie sees her salon as more than just a place for haircuts; it’s a hub of life’s moments. Whether clients are celebrating a new job or navigating a tough time, Halie introduces the concept of “hairapy” — a blend of hair care and heartfelt connection. “Our shop is a safe space where the chair becomes more than just a place for a haircut,” she explains.
Renovation Inspired by History
The space itself is a testament to thoughtful design and respect for the building’s history. Chad Lindler, the founder and president of Chapin Commercial Construction, commented on the renovation, stating, “Renovating a historic building like this presents unique challenges, but it’s those challenges that make the process very fulfilling.” The stunning new barbershop now boasts a minimalist aesthetic complete with exposed brick, vintage light fixtures, and stylish penny-round tile flooring. Four classic barber chairs invite clients to sit down, relax, and enjoy the experience.
Circa’s Roots and Growth
Beginning in 2014 from a one-chair shop, Circa has grown leaps and bounds. D.R. Granger, Circa’s founder, reflects on this journey: “What started in the dressing room of Circa Mercantile Co. has turned into eight locations, offering high-quality haircuts and beard trims.” The expansion into Lexington marks another step in Circa’s mission to bring stylish and straightforward barbering services to the Midlands.
The cozy yet modern design captures the essence of what Circa stands for. As Halie notes, “Our clients aren’t just clients; they become friends and part of our community.”
Collaboration Building Dreams
The renovation didn’t just create a new barbershop. It also improved the building’s upper level, home to Craig Reagin Clothiers, a beloved men’s clothing store. Owner Jeremy Addy, who has deep ties to the Lexington community, expressed excitement about the collaboration. “We’re thrilled to have Circa join us. It brings even more energy and a sense of community to downtown Lexington,” he said.
Thanks to the renovation, Jeremy’s boutique can now enhance its operations, maximizing the use of the newly available basement space. It’s a win-win for both businesses and a win for the community, breathing new life into downtown Lexington.
