Lexington School District Two Promotes New Director of Special Services
WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Emmylou Todd, a seasoned education professional with nearly 20 years of service in the Lexington School District Two, was recently promoted to the district’s new director of special services for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. Todd’s appointment, recommended by the Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner, received the approval from the Board of Trustees during a special-called meeting held on May 7.
Todd’s journey in Lexington Two
Todd’s journey with Lexington Two began in 2006 when she started her profession as a special education teacher at Fulmer Middle School. Her dedication and commitment saw her progress through several roles including an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) coordinator and transition specialist and as a district special education coach. In 2017, she transferred into her former role of coordinator of special services (secondary), a position she has held since then.
Educational Background and Professional Commitment
Possessing both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina, Todd is also currently working on a PhD. Her personality is one filled with an undying commitment to special education and a firm belief in the potential of her students.
“I am committed to focusing on the strengths of our students with disabilities as well as ensuring that we are providing a quality education from empowered special education and general education teachers,” Todd said.
She further highlighted that her goal is to “ensure that ALL students have the opportunity to learn and grow as well as reach their full potential for becoming productive citizens after leaving our district.” Her tenure as the new director of special services will commence on July 1.
