Sponsor Our ArticlesPlanet Fitness is set to open a new gym in Lexington at 760 U.S. 378, taking over a former grocery store site. Although the opening date is not yet confirmed, social media buzz suggests it will be soon. The 28,000 square foot facility will feature extensive cardio and strength equipment, wellness amenities, and 24/7 access for members. This location will join others in the Midlands, providing residents with ample fitness options.
Lexington is buzzing with excitement as Planet Fitness prepares to unveil its latest gym right at 760 U.S. 378. This new location is taking over what was once a Piggly Wiggly grocery store, which closed its doors in 2023. The shopping center will host additional businesses, including the popular China King and Ramblin’ Mule restaurants, making it a vibrant spot for locals.
While we still don’t have an exact opening date for this much-anticipated gym, the buzz on social media is that it’s “very soon.” Planet Fitness has a way of keeping everyone on their toes, but rest assured, it won’t be long before you can experience this fitness haven for yourself!
With over 2,400 locations across the U.S., this will be just one of many Planet Fitness clubs sprouting up in the Midlands region. Local residents will appreciate the convenience of multiple options, including existing locations in Columbia, Cayce, Camden, Orangeburg, and Sumter. Just last June, a brand-new gym opened its doors at 2410 Augusta Road in West Columbia, with another location making waves at 238 Harbison Blvd. in late 2023. Clearly, the fitness movement is alive and well here!
Situated right across from a Publix shopping center, this new Planet Fitness is not only easy to spot but conveniently located for anyone running errands nearby. Plus, with Lexington High School just a mile to the south, students and staff can swing by for a workout before or after classes.
If you’re curious about foot traffic, prepare to be amazed—approximately 19,000 vehicles pass through this section of U.S. 378 daily, according to state DOT statistics. With numbers like that, it’s clear that this gym will be in an ideal spot to attract fitness enthusiasts from all around the area.
Here’s where it gets even more exciting—this new gym is reported to span a whopping 28,000 square feet and will feature over 100 pieces of cardio equipment along with a variety of strength equipment. For those who love a bit of luxury in their workouts, the amenities will include a Black Card Spa equipped with tanning rooms, massage chairs, hydro massage chairs, and even a cryotherapy chamber.
Additionally, the gym will boast a Relax Space Wellness Pod designed for guided meditation and total body enhancement therapy using non-ultraviolet red light therapy. It’s safe to say that this will be a place not just for pumping iron, but for rejuvenation as well!
Imagine having access to a gym that operates 24 hours during the weekdays, accommodating everyone’s schedule, from early birds to night owls. You can catch a lift or a run any time of day! On weekends, the gym will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., making it super convenient to squeeze in a workout between weekend plans.
In the lead-up to the grand opening, membership sales will be available, so get ready to grab your access cards and be among the first to experience everything that this gym has to offer.
In the spirit of health and wellness, it’s worth noting that the nine Planet Fitness locations already operating in the Lexington area are currently offering free access for individuals who typically workout outdoors but are facing unhealthy air quality. This initiative is valid until Sunday, July 2, demonstrating the franchise’s commitment to the community’s health.
With the enthusiastic expansion of Planet Fitness in and around Lexington, there’s no better time to jump on board the fitness wave. So mark your calendars and get ready to embrace a healthier lifestyle as Lexington welcomes its latest addition to the fitness family!
