Lexington County School District 3 returns to school: What parents should know before children hit the books
Parents and students in Lexington County School District 3 (L3) in South Carolina are bracing to hit the books for the 2024-2025 school year. Notably, L3 is the first district in the Midlands to commence classes this year.
A Modified Calendar
If you thought July 30 is an early start for the academic year, you’re not alone. However, this change is due to L3’s adoption of a modified academic calendar. According to the district, this new schedule shortens summer breaks and introduces several “intersession” breaks within the fall and spring semesters. This is L3′s second year following this innovative calendar system.
Construction Projects Round-Up
The upcoming school year will see the completion of several school district infrastructure projects. Notably, Batesburg-Leesville High School has introduced a new competition gymnasium project completed in May 2024. Additionally, Batesburg-Leesville Primary School is proud of its new cafeteria, completed and opened to students in October of 2023.
Preparing for the New School Year
In anticipation of the new academic year, Matthew Velasquez, Principal of Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School, has been speaking about the changes and what parents and students can expect. His discussions have focused around the updated calendar, completed construction projects, and how these changes aim to enhance the educational experience for all students within the district.
To facilitate a smooth transition into the new academic year, L3 has been proactive in circulating this information to parents, students, and the wider community.
Looking Forward
As families gear up for the new academic year, L3 is keen to foster a seamless and efficient school experience. The changes to the calendar and the addition of new school facilities are a testament to the district’s commitment to providing an enriching and conducive learning environment.
By keeping the lines of communication open and transparent, L3 ensures that parents, students, and community members are well-informed about these changes and what they mean for the school year ahead.
