Divers Resume Search for Missing Woman in Lake Greenwood, One Week after Disappearance

Divers Return to Lake Greenwood as Search for Missing Woman Passes One Week

Resuming Search Operations

In a renewed effort to locate their missing swimmer, divers and investigators resumed search operations at Lake Greenwood in the early hours of Saturday. The unidentified 30-year-old female suddenly vanished a week ago while tubing behind a boat in the lake.

According to local officials, the woman, notably without a life jacket, plunged into the water and did not re-emerge. Since the tragic incident, a significant number of resources including divers, airplanes, sonar equipment, and more have been exhaustively engaged in efforts to locate the missing woman.

Desperate Plea for Closure

When the family of the missing woman received the phone call informing them about the tragic incident, they were overwhelmed. “It was a hysterical shock,” the missing woman’s mother said. “I rushed to the area where they are searching for her. Overwhelming. It’s just simply overwhelming.” The disappeared woman is the eldest daughter of her mother, a dedicated member of the South Carolina National Guard, and a recent graduate of a local nursing school.

The Unabated Search

The search for the missing woman continues without respite, with officers from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), investigators and divers conducting further surface searches and leveraging side scan sonar to comb the depths of Lake Greenwood.

Officials are tirelessly working to locate the woman and provide some degree of closure to her family, who are currently engaged in frantic efforts to maintain hope against rapidly fading odds. “Every day it gets harder, but we are hopeful,” the desperate mother said. “You never know what might happen. We have to hope against hope.”

National Guard Shows Support

The news of the woman’s disappearance prompted the South Carolina National Guard leadership and Maj. Gen. Jeff Jones, deputy adjunct for the South Carolina National Guard, to visit the lake in a demonstration of support for both her family and the ongoing search operation. “She dedicated her life to the service of others, which is why we are here to support her family and assist the law enforcement in their search,” Maj. Gen. Jones said.

Call to Stay Updated

As the investigation unfolds and search operations intensify around Lake Greenwood, the community and well-wishers are urged to keep abreast of the latest developments. Further progress reports and updates are likely to be forthcoming as officials and personnel strive to unearth the whereabouts of the missing woman, and bring a measure of peace to an intensely fraught situation.
