Irmo Man Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

Lexington, SC Multiple Drug Arrest

In the heart of Lexington County, an Irmo man state police had been actively pursuing on a series of drug charges was apprehended during a routine traffic stop. Stewart Jamaul Stroman, aged 34, now faces an array of charges, including multiple instances of drug trafficking involving methamphetamine, fentanyl, and criminal conspiracy.

Pulled Over on I-20 near Exit 55

Details from law enforcement indicate that Mr. Stroman was pulled over on Interstate 20, near exit 55, on Wednesday. During the traffic stop, authorities identified him and immediately apprehended him due to existing arrest warrants. According to Sheriff Jay Koon of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, “A deputy conducted a probable cause search of Stroman’s vehicle and found more than 1,000 grams of meth.”

Street Value: $6,000

This sizable amount of methamphetamine, as advised by Sheriff Koon, carries a street value of approximately $6,000. Stroman was arrested at the scene on the interstate before being transported to the Lexington County Detention Center. A presiding magistrate judge deemed it appropriate to deny the suspect bond. His case is currently pending, awaiting further legal actions.

Methamphetamine Trafficking Charges

Stroman’s arrest underlines the state’s ongoing fight against illegal drug trafficking. It also emphasizes the role of routine traffic stops in combating this menace. Methamphetamine trafficking, especially when it’s over 400 grams as in this case, is considered a serious crime under South Carolina law and carries stiff penalties upon conviction.

A broader Impact

The detainment of Stroman will likely create ripples in the local drug trafficking scene. By removing such significant quantities of narcotics from potential circulation, law enforcement can help curtail drug usage and its associated societal impacts, such as increased crime rates and the worsening of public health crises.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department expressed its commitment to intensifying its efforts against drug trafficking and related crimes. The successful arrest and subsequent charging of Stroman highlight the effectiveness of their vigilance and continued efforts in this regard.
