Nearly 150 Students Selected for Lexington District Two’s Honors Band and Orchestra

Nearly 150 Students Selected to Participate in Lexington District Two’s Honors Band or Honors Orchestra

West Columbia, SC 04/01/2024 – A noteworthy congregation of music enthusiasts in Lexington District Two middle and high school saw nearly 150 students chosen for the eminent district music groups. With a line-up of 88 students preparing to perform for the Lexington Two Honor Band Clinic, and 58 students who laid impressive performances for Lexington Two District Honors Orchestra last month, this selection speaks volumes of the young, promising talent the district houses.

Lexington Two Honor Band Clinic

In its fifth year, the Honor Band Clinic saw 39 middle schoolers and 49 high schoolers making it to the selections. The criteria for selection varied among the two categories, with auditions marking the selection threshold for middle school musicians, while high school musicians were selected as per the director’s recommendation.

The appointed students would have the golden chance to work with acclaimed educators, Edna Grace, and Alyssa Haley. However, learning at the clinic would be akin to the real world as students will only have 10 hours to prepare for the concert scheduled for April 12, as revealed by Hunter Reese, band director at Busbee Creative Arts Academy and the man behind the Honor Band Clinic program.

“This is such a wonderful opportunity for our students as it shows the ‘real-world’ application of concepts that are being taught in class,” Reese stated.
