Holiday Cheer Shines Bright at S.C. Gingerbread House Competition in Columbia!

Holiday Cheer is in the Air in Columbia!

It’s that magical time of year again, Columbia! Get ready to immerse yourself in the festive spirit at the much-anticipated S.C. Gingerbread House Competition, happening this Saturday, December 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at AIA Columbia, located at 1530 Main Street, Suite C. The best part? This event is a free and family-friendly experience, so gather your loved ones and prepare for a delightful day ahead!

Something for Everyone

As part of the lively vibe downtown, the gingerbread competition runs concurrently with the ever-popular Soda City Market. Yes, you heard it! Not only will you get to marvel at the most creative gingerbread houses, but you can also shop for local goods and snacks right nearby. This event isn’t just about fun; it’s also about giving back. Proceeds from the competition will go to Home Works of America – a fantastic nonprofit organization dedicated to performing essential home repairs for low-income homeowners while also mentoring youth volunteers.

The Gingerbread Magic

Prepare to witness an array of stunning gingerbread creations! The entries will be expertly judged by professionals who know the ins and outs of this delicious art. But wait, there’s more! Your vote counts too! Visitors will get the chance to participate by casting their ballot for The People’s Choice Award. So, don’t forget to scout out your favorite gingerbread masterpiece!

This event will also feature a special visit from Santa Claus himself! Children (and adults!) can snap a memorable photo with Santa for free, so bring your smiles and holiday cheer, everyone!

Supporting a Noble Cause

While you’re soaking up all the festive fun, don’t forget to lend a helping hand. Guests are encouraged to bring donations for Home Works, including items like trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, dish towels, wash cloths, Clorox wipes, hand soap, dish soap, and laundry baskets. Every little bit helps families in need, making this event not just a celebration but also a chance to make a real difference in our community.

The Evening Celebration

Wrap up the day with a delightful ticketed cocktail party that commences from 6–8 p.m., where the winners of the gingerbread competition will be announced! What better way to toast to the season of joy than with delicious drinks and festive atmosphere while congratulating the talented bakers behind these enchanting creations!

Join the Festivities!

Whether you’re a budding gingerbread architect or a proud supporter of charitable causes, this event promises to light up your Saturday with joy, community spirit, and a sprinkle of creativity! So pull your family and friends together, mark your calendars, and head down to AIA Columbia for a morning chock-full of fun.

Columbia, let’s celebrate this season of giving with laughter, joy, and of course, delicious gingerbread houses!
