Black History Month Bingo & Gallery Walk Celebration

– This month, Newberry Middle School embarked on a distinctive celebration of Black History Month. Organized by the social studies department, students and staff engaged in an enlightening gallery walk and a lively bingo night, immortalizing the legacy of important African-American personalities.

Commending African-American Contribution through Art and Knowledge

The event was led by Miss Crystal Boyd, chair of the social studies department. The gallery walk constituted of students presenting curated writings and artwork, showcasing the life and contributions of influential African-American individuals from history till present day. Students were also encouraged to dress in costumes representing important figures from the African-American community.

The focus was not just the past, but also the current challenges and triumphs that African-Americans face in society. These themes were seamlessly woven into the writings and the artwork, making the whole event not just an educational experience, but an informative dialogue on past and present.

A Night of Fun and Learning

In addition to the gallery walk, the celebration also consisted of an exciting bingo night. This evening had entertaining rounds of bingo that was meant to engage parents, students, faculty, and staff. There were prizes for the winners which added to the festive ambiance.
