In Baltimore on Wednesday, November 6, several high school volleyball teams battled it out in playoffs, producing some exciting matches and impressive performances.
The C. Milton Wright Mustangs had an outstanding showing against the Fallston Cougars, sweeping them in the Class 2A East Region I Final with scores of 25-21, 25-13, and 25-11. Maddie Duffalo led her team with an impressive 13 kills, while Ana Mioduski contributed with seven kills and four aces. Other standout players included Olivia Kobb with six kills and three aces, and Jenna Ritz, who provided 28 assists along with three aces.
The Carver A&T Wildcats came out on top against the Western Tech Wolverines, winning the match 3-1 in the 1A North Region I Final. The scores were 25-19, 25-22, 12-25, and 25-14.
In the Class 3A match, Howard Lions claimed victory over River Hill Hawks, scoring 25-10, 25-12, 21-25, and 25-20. Kaleigh Williams was a key player, recording nine kills and five blocks.
The Reservoir Gators advanced to the 4A state quarterfinals after defeating Montgomery-Blair with a straight set victory of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-19. Nina Amani-Dove and Tiana Copp each contributed 10 kills to the win.
Patterson Mill Huskies captured the 1A East Region I Championship, defeating Bohemia Manor 25-11, 25-19, and 25-14. Harlon Jones was instrumental with 14 kills and seven digs.
The Broadneck Bruins won decisively against the Leonardtown Raiders in a Class 4A matchup, with scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-15. Sydney Lawrence led with an impressive performance, recording 17 service points and five aces.
