In Bridgeport, high school soccer games brought excitement as teams battled it out on the field. A few standout matches highlighted the day with impressive performances from various players.
At Kaplanis Field, Abbott Tech played against O’Brien Tech, where Abbott Tech secured a solid victory with a score of 4-0. Danny Granizo scored two goals, while Jordan Saetama and Ricardo Redrovan added one goal each. Mateo Diaz, Matheus Pinto, and Jake Cassidy provided assists. O’Brien Tech’s goalie, Evan Beland, had a busy day with 15 saves.
In another matchup, Amity shut out Sheehan with a 4-0 scoreline. Matteo Santin was in top form, scoring all four goals for Amity. He was supported by assists from Ethan Weatherly, Luke Long, Ben Macci, and Hayden Friborg. Despite the loss, Sheehan’s goalkeeper, Justin Tibbetts, managed a commendable 12 saves.
Berlin faced Simsbury and edged them out 2-1, with Joseph Francalangia contributing both goals, demonstrating great teamwork with Phillip Adamczuk on assists. Simsbury’s lone goal came from John Patrick Fitzgerald.
Moving over to the girls’ matches, Bethel had an impressive performance against Bunnell, winning 4-0. Laina Caffrey netted two of those goals, with Olivia Chamberlain and Zoe King also finding the back of the net. Bethel’s defense held strong, allowing just one shot on goal, with Emma Perrotti making one save.
Meanwhile, Seymour dominated Derby with a striking 7-0 win, where Belle Monaco-Belden netted two goals. The team displayed talent across the board, including contributions from Mia Cunningham, Taylor Guarino, and others.
