High School Sports Highlights from the Twin Cities
In a thrilling day for high school sports in the Twin Cities, the soccer and volleyball teams showcased their competitive spirit, advancing toward championship glory. The adapted soccer match saw South Washington County claim victory over St. Paul Johnson with a score of 7-3.
On the soccer front, the girls’ Class 3A semifinals took place at U.S. Bank Stadium. Edina emerged victorious against East Ridge, defeating them with a score of 3-1. Meanwhile, Wayzata dominated against Eagan, wrapping up their match with a resounding 5-0 win. As a result, Edina and Wayzata will compete in the title game on Friday evening.
In the Class 2A semifinals, Holy Angels secured their spot in the final with a solid performance against Orono, winning 4-1. Another standout was Mahtomedi, who overwhelmed Mankato East with a score of 7-0.
In the Class 1A semifinals, Providence Academy defeated St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura with a score of 3-0, and Southwest Christian narrowly beat Esko 2-1. These teams are now set to face off in their respective finals.
Switching gears to volleyball, the Class 4A Section 2 semifinals saw Minnetonka battle Prior Lake, winning in a five-set match with scores of 25-16, 25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 15-8. In another exciting semifinal, Waconia took down Chaska after losing the first set, finishing strong with a score of 3-1.
