High School Sports Roundup: Football and Hockey Highlights

This past Thursday in Minnesota, exciting high school football and hockey action kept fans on the edge of their seats, showcasing impressive performances from various teams.

Football Semifinals Recap

In the Class 6A semifinal game, Minnetonka proved their strength by defeating Anoka with a score of 48-27. The star of the game was quarterback Caleb Francois, who rushed for an astonishing 283 yards and scored five touchdowns. Despite Anoka’s quarterback Peyton Podany throwing for three touchdown passes, it wasn’t enough to overcome the stellar play from Minnetonka.

In Class 4A, Becker took care of business against Marshall, winning decisively 28-7. Meanwhile, in the 9-man semifinals, Fertile-Beltrami showcased their talent, smashing LeRoy-Ostrander with a score of 60-33. Hills-Beaver Creek also had a close game, edging out Mountain Iron-Buhl 26-20.

Hockey Highlights

The hockey scene saw several teams dominating in their respective matches. In Girls Mississippi 8 conference play, Chisago Lakes claimed victory against Northern Tier, winning 6-4. In the Northwest Suburban conference, Blaine defeated Elk River 4-1. The South Suburban conference matchups included Prior Lake crushing Eagan 4-0.

In the broader Metropolitan area, teams like Albert Lea and Edina also displayed their skills, with Albert Lea shutting out Red Wing 17-0 and Edina beating Rogers 8-0. Other notable scores included Northfield defeating Owatonna 4-1 and Minnetonka beating Andover 2-0.
