Vermont High School Fall Sports Update
Vermont’s high school fall sports action kicked off with an exciting start this week. Teams are competing in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. With numerous games played, there are plenty of highlights to share.
Soccer Highlights
In soccer, the Catamounts remain in great form, securing a 1-0 victory against Bryant. Pieter Bultman was the star, scoring in the 30th minute, and goalkeeper Niklas Herceg made three crucial saves. Vermont’s unbeaten streak now stands at an impressive 13 games. On a different note, St. Lawrence showed their dominance by defeating Vermont 5-0. They had multiple goal-scorers like Anna Segedi and Aly McLeod, each contributing to the victory.
Field Hockey News
In field hockey, Fair Haven achieved a resounding 6-0 win over Woodstock. Players Maddy Perry and Leigha Kretzer each scored three goals, showcasing their offensive power. Other notable matches included Lake Region narrowly defeating Lamoille 1-0, thanks to Avery Hansen‘s lone goal.
Volleyball Results
In volleyball, South Burlington continued their dominance with a clean sweep against Mount Anthony at 3-0. Standout player Kyle Couture contributed two goals. A thrilling match was noticed when Winooski shut out BFA-Fairfax 6-0, where Oliver Mathys-Vallario shined with three goals and one assist.
Golf and Cross Country
In golf, the NVAC Mountain championships took place at East Montpelier, where many local talents showcased their skills. Cross-country running events are also ramping up with several competitions lined up for weekend enthusiasts and athletes alike.
