High School Sports Roundup: Exciting Matchups Across Connecticut

Connecticut high schools were alive with sports action recently, showcasing mesmerizing performances from various teams. In Bethel, the girls’ soccer team triumphed over Morgan 3-1. Bethel’s Laina Caffrey led the scoring with two goals, while Emma Pires added another. Morgan’s lone goal came from Sadie Passante, with Rachel Spaziano providing the assist. Goalkeeper Emma Perrotti of Bethel had a busy day, making 12 saves, while Morgan’s Lili Novicki managed just 2 saves. With this win, Bethel’s record improved to 12-1-3, while Morgan’s stands at 9-3-2.

In another tightly contested match, Greenwich and Staples played to a 2-2 draw. Staples’ Katie Fitzgerald and Natalie Chudowsky found the back of the net, with assists from Annabel Edwards and Willa Shamie. On the other side, both teams showed strong defensive skills with key saves throughout the game.

Waterford dominated St. Bernard, cruising to a convincing 6-0 victory. The scoring was led by Camryn Dickinson, who contributed a goal and two assists. Paige Jessuck also shined with two goals. Victoria Sturm kept a clean sheet in goal, saving two shots and even scoring her first career goal on a penalty kick! St. Bernard’s Madison Scribner worked hard in goal, making a remarkable 18 saves.

Law faced off against Branford and delivered an impressive 7-3 win. Alex Rodriguez led Law with two goals, helping to solidify their record at 8-5-2. Meanwhile, Law also managed to secure a narrow 1-0 win against Amistad, with Rodriguez scoring the only goal.

In a close finish, East Lyme edged out North Branford 4-3. Goals came from multiple players, including a strong performance from Sophia Gibson. The goalkeepers showcased their skills, with East Lyme’s Erin gaining the upper hand with a total of 11 shots fired on goal.

Lastly, Glastonbury came away with a confident 3-1 win against Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Zoe White, Deirdre McKiernan, and Addison Infante each scored for Glastonbury while goalkeeper Maddie O’Connell made two key saves.

Overall, it was an exhilarating time for high school sports in Connecticut, filled with competitive spirit and outstanding athleticism across the board.
