High School Football Semifinals Highlight Action Across the State
This past weekend, high school football teams from around the state competed fiercely in the WIAA state tournament semifinals, showcasing thrilling matches and impressive performances.
In the Class 4A semifinals, the top seed Camas pulled off a hard-fought victory against Gonzaga Prep with a 28-20 final score. Meanwhile, Sumner faced off against Chiawana in a nail-biting showdown that extended into triple overtime, with Sumner securing the win 37-31.
Shifting to the Class 3A semifinals, O’Dea edged past Eastside Catholic with a close score of 17-14. Bellevue also claimed a decisive victory against Roosevelt, finalizing the score at 29-13.
The Class 2A semifinals saw the top-ranked Tumwater dominate Archbishop Murphy, shutting them out with a score of 42-0. Anacortes also had a solid win over W.F. West, with a final score of 35-13.
In the Class 1A semifinals, Seton Catholic defeated Montesano 35-14, while Royal displayed their strength by overpowering Cashmere with a resounding 44-7 victory.
The Class 2B semifinals featured Napavine triumphing over Asotin 23-8, alongside Okanogan’s narrow win against Freeman, finishing at 36-26.
Finally, in the Class 1B semifinals, Wilbur-Creston-Keller enjoyed a notable victory against Naselle with a score of 52-28, while Liberty Christian edged out Almira Coulee Hartline, winning 36-28.
These semifinal matchups set the stage for the upcoming state championships, where teams will vie for the ultimate title. Fans and players alike are eagerly looking forward to the championship games!
