This week in Kansas City, high school football teams took the field for a series of exciting playoff games. Teams from both Missouri and Kansas showed off their skills as they battled for a spot in the next round.

On Friday, the Class 6 quarterfinals saw some close matches. Nixa narrowly defeated Lee’s Summit North with a final score of 21-20, while Kirkwood pulled off a solid win against Jackson, finishing 45-35. Saturday continued the action with matches between Park Hill and Liberty, and De Smet facing off against Columbia Rock Bridge.

In the Class 5 quarterfinals, Platte County dominated Webb City, winning 35-0. Meanwhile, MICDS secured an easy victory over Fort Zumwalt West with a score of 49-3. Looking ahead, Lafayette will take on Cardinal Ritter and Helias Catholic will play against Republic this Saturday.

Class 4 also had some standout performances. Kearney easily defeated Warrensburg 49-14 on Friday. This Saturday, the games include Lutheran North battling Parkway North and Festus facing Gateway STEM.

Other notable matches this weekend include Class 3 quarterfinals with teams like Maryville, Dexter, and Seneca all looking to progress further in the playoffs.

The Class 1 district championships saw Penney triumph over North Platte 35-13, while Adrian won against Marionville 17-16. In the 8-man district championships, Bishop LeBlond came out on top defeating Rock Port by a slim margin of 60-54.

As the playoffs continue this weekend, all eyes are on Kansas City sports as teams strive to advance to the next stages. With thrilling matchups ahead, the excitement is sure to keep local fans on the edge of their seats!
