The football field was buzzing with standout performances, starting with Lucius Anderson from CBA, who scored an impressive four touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing, and one on defense) as his team dominated Colonie with a final score of 69-13.
In a close match, Kala’i Makanani of Ballston Spa made a significant impact by rushing for 129 yards on 16 carries and scoring three touchdowns, leading the Scotties to a nail-biting 28-23 win over Queensbury. Zavry Ward of Queensbury also shone with 220 yards passing and three touchdowns, while teammate Kasigh Gooden caught seven passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing the intense competition in this matchup.
Over in Glens Falls, Brody Holcomb completed 9-of-12 passes for an impressive 244 yards and three touchdowns, contributing to the Black Bears’ 49-7 victory against Lansingburgh. Kellen Driscoll was also a key player, catching five passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns.
An impressive performance came from Brayden Deere from Gloversville who rushed for 270 yards over 36 carries, scoring twice in a 20-7 win against Scotia-Glenville. Schalmont’s Landen Callahan rushed for 196 yards and scored four touchdowns in a game against Cohoes, bringing home a 28-14 victory.
In girls’ soccer, Albany’s Christian Bermejo scored a late goal to push his team to a 2-1 win against Shenendehowa, followed by Charlie Bromirski’s overtime goal to finalize the victory. In another notable match, Guilderland’s Marie Bogue scored the winning goal to take down Colonie in a tense quarterfinal that ended 2-1.
