High School Football Playoffs: Exciting CIF Southern California Regional Championship Results
This past Saturday, December 7, was an action-packed day for high school football in Southern California. Several teams faced off in the CIF Southern California Regional championship games, showcasing their skills and determination.
In an intense match in Division 1-A, Edison pulled off a thrilling 34-28 victory over Granite Hills. Julius Gillick was the star of the game, rushing for an impressive 240 yards on 39 carries and scoring 3 touchdowns. With this win, Edison secured a spot in the upcoming Division 1A state championship game, set to be played next Saturday, December 14, at Saddleback College.
Meanwhile, in Division 2-A, Palos Verdes fought hard to defeat Bakersfield Christian with a score of 28-10. Palos Verdes continues their momentum with another second-half shutout, advancing to the CIF State Division 2-A title game next week.
In Division 3-A, Rio Hondo Prep celebrated a strong 28-14 win against Poway. This victory marks a significant achievement as they advance to their first state championship game on Saturday, December 15, at Long Beach City College’s Veterans Stadium.
Division 4-A saw an inspiring turnaround as St. Pius X-St. Matthias, who struggled during the regular season with a 1-9 record, triumphed over St. Augustine with a score of 28-7. They will now face off against NorCal champions Sonora in the state championship game on December 14.
In Division 5-A, Palmdale narrowly defeated Selma with a final score of 41-38. Also, Monte Vista claimed a solid 41-21 victory over Pasadena in Division 6-A, while Pioneer shut out Panorama with a dominating score of 24-0 in Division 7-A. The Titans will advance to the regional bowl game next week, highlighted by touchdowns from Jose Rojas and Damian Salguero, along with Darean Bullard’s scoop and score.
