High School Football Action Heats Up in Baltimore: Quarterfinals on the Horizon

On a crisp Tuesday evening, the excitement was palpable in the air as high school teams from across the region faced off in a series of thrilling matches. Here’s a roundup of the action that unfolded.

Sparrows Point dominated their game against Patapsco, scoring an impressive 11 goals while shutting out the Patriots 0. The defending Class 2A state champions showed their strength with Reaghan Wheeler and Kylie Stambaugh each netting two goals. Support came from Madyson Costello, Ami Walters, Allysa Hartman, Lilah Kern, Lilly Parks, Gianna Orsino, and Allison Crowe, who all scored, ensuring their spot in the quarterfinals.

In another thrilling game, the Bel Air Bobcats edged out Poly with a tight 1 to 0 victory, thanks to an overtime goal by Ally Mace, assisted by Alyssa Foote. Emmy Schiller was key, making two saves to secure the shutout.

Harford Tech claimed the title in the 1A North Region II championships with a commanding 4 to 0 win over Patterson Mill. Ashley Shelton shone with two goals, while Abby Downes contributed a goal and an assist. The team’s defense, backed by Faith Orsini, who made seven saves, kept Patterson Mill scoreless.

C. Milton Wright secured a narrow 1 to 0 win against Rising Sun with Mackenzi Milich scoring the only goal in the second half, assisted by Delainey Proctor. The solid performance of goalkeeper Alix Bramble, who made three saves, helped them clinch the victory.

The 1A North Region I championship saw Liberty besting South Carroll by a score of 2 to 1, with goals from Aver Asom and Bryce Sarver. Protective efforts from Mady Smith in goal, who made seven clutch saves, were crucial for the Lions.

In boys’ action, Perry Hall faced off against Kenwood and emerged victorious with a 2 to 1 win. Jacob Bondyra and Parker Newman scored early in the match, helping their team to secure the 4A North Region I title.
