High School Football and Sports Events Heating Up in Arlington

Exciting Week Ahead for Arlington High School Sports

Arlington, VA – This week promises to be an action-packed one for local high school sports as teams gear up for a variety of games and matches. Due to the observance of Yom Kippur, three public high school football games will be played tonight, October 10, instead of the usual Friday night slot.

Tonight’s football games include McLean at Yorktown, Langley at Wakefield, and Marshall at Washington-Liberty, all kicking off at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Bishop O’Connell will be traveling to John Paul the Great for their game slated to begin at the same time.

On Friday night, Bishop O’Connell will hit the field while other sports take the limelight throughout the week. Notably, the field hockey schedule is buzzing with matches, including Trinity Episcopal at Bishop O’Connell at 4 p.m. and Washington-Liberty at Yorktown at 7:30 p.m..

Golf enthusiasts can look forward to watching Washington-Liberty as they participate in the state tournament, starting at 9 a.m. on Friday.

In other notable matchups, the local cross country teams from Yorktown, Wakefield, and Washington-Liberty will meet at Burke Lake Park at 4 p.m. for their event. Volleyball fans can catch games like Yorktown at McLean and Washington-Liberty at Wakefield, both kicking off at 7 p.m..

For soccer fans, several games will be contested including Bishop O’Connell against DeMatha and Elizabeth Seton at Bishop O’Connell for girls’ soccer, both taking place at 4 p.m..
