Exciting Times in Cayce: Hattieā€™s Crossing Officially Opens!

Good news, Cayce! Today marks a wonderful milestone in our charming city as Hattieā€™s Crossing was officially dedicated at a ceremony held at 4:00 p.m. Located at 800 Lexington Avenue, this event highlights the strong partnerships within our community, involving local entities like Lexington School District Two, the Greater CWC Chamber & Visitorā€™s Center, and Cypress Real Estate Partners.

Celebrating Our Roots

Tim James, the Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Cayce and also the President of the Chamber of Commerce, expressed his excitement. ā€œAs a prior student of Cayce Grammar, I am thrilled to see the history of our beloved school memorialized,ā€ he said. With a big smile, he also shared his views on the community’s growth, saying, ā€œWe are welcoming new families to our community while celebrating our roots!ā€

Itā€™s heartwarming to see such enthusiasm for honoring the past while also looking forward to a bright future. The dedication honors Hattie Derrenbacher, a dedicated educator who left a lasting impact on the students of Lexington School District Two. Dr. Brenda Hafner, the districtā€™s Superintendent, remarked, ā€œItā€™s a fitting tribute to the woman who committed her life to educating our children.ā€

What’s Coming to Hattieā€™s Crossing?

So, what can we expect from this new neighborhood? Mark James from Cypress Real Estate Partners shared a glimpse of the exciting plans. ā€œWeā€™re thrilled about the redevelopment of the historic Cayce Grammar School property into a vibrant new residential neighborhood. These homes will combine attractive traditional architecture with the benefits of new construction,ā€ he explained. It sounds like a fantastic addition to our community!

Infill development is part of Cayceā€™s comprehensive plan, and this project is seen as a remarkable opportunity to transform a previously blighted property into something positive. Jim Crosland, Cayceā€™s Interim City Manager, couldnā€™t contain his enthusiasm, saying, ā€œThis is a perfect opportunity for partnerships that transform a blighted property into a vibrant housing opportunity!ā€

Building Community Bonds

As construction is set to begin soon, thereā€™s a sense of eagerness amongst the residents of Cayce and its neighboring towns like West Columbia, Swansea, Pine Ridge, and Chapin. The excitement buzzes across the whole area, as people see Hattieā€™s Crossing not just as new homes, but as a space to form connections and build a strong community. Itā€™s not just about bricks and mortar, but about creating a place where families can gather, laugh, and thrive together!
