The No. 2 ranked South Carolina women’s golf team is gearing up to kick off their campaign at the NCAA Auburn Regional in Auburn, Alabama. The Gamecocks have clinched the top seed in the 12-team regional tournament, with the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championship after 54 holes of play.
South Carolina will be paired with host team, No. 7 Auburn, and No. 14 Oregon, the second and third seeds in the regional. The Gamecocks will field a formidable lineup featuring Junior All-Americans Louise Rydqvist and Hannah Darling in the top two spots. They will be supported by two All-SEC players, sophomore Mia Sandtorv Lussand and freshman Vairana Heck. Freshman Maylis Lamoure will round up the five-player lineup, with senior Sophia Burnett as the team’s substitute.
Head coach Kalen Anderson, recently named SEC Coach of the Year for the fourth time, is focused on guiding the Gamecocks to their fourth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance and the 11th in the last 14 seasons under her leadership. With a total of 20 NCAA Championship appearances in the program’s history, Anderson is determined to lead her team to success this week.
The top five teams from the Auburn Regional will secure a ticket to the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship at Omni Ls Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., scheduled for May 17-22. Live scoring of the tournament will be available daily at Auburn University Club via Golfstat.
