COLUMBIA, S.C. – Gamecock Softball Recognizes Eight Seniors, Falls in Season Finale

The University of South Carolina softball team wrapped up its regular season on Sunday afternoon with a hard-fought 5-2 loss to No. 13 Missouri. Despite the defeat, it was a special day as Carolina honored its eight seniors in a pre-game ceremony. Aniyah Black, Denver Bryant, Bailey Betenbaugh, Zoe Laneaux, Alana Vawter, Riley Blampied, and Kianna Jones were all recognized for their contributions to the program.

Outstanding Performances

South Carolina out-hit Missouri for the second time in the series, with Aniyah Black leading the way with two hits on the day. Despite the effort, the Gamecocks were unable to come out on top in the closely contested matchup.

Tough Loss in Extra Innings

The game remained tied into extra innings, marking the ninth time this season that Carolina has played an extra-inning game. Unfortunately, the Tigers were able to break the tie with a three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning, securing the victory.

With the regular season now complete, the Gamecocks turn their focus to the SEC Tournament. They are set to face Mississippi State in their opening game, which will take place 35 minutes after the conclusion of the Auburn vs. Georgia matchup. Fans can catch the action on the SEC Network.

Upcoming Game

Next up, the Gamecocks will take on Mississippi State on May 8 at 8:00 pm in Auburn, Alabama. The game will be played at a neutral site.
