Exciting Week Ahead for Arlington High School Sports

Arlington, VA is gearing up for an exciting week full of sports action as multiple high school teams prepare for playoff contests across various sports. With the observance of a no-play date for Fairfax County schools due to the Diwali Hindu festival, there will be no football games this Friday night, November 1. Instead, Arlington teams will take to the field on Saturday afternoon, November 2, for their matches against Fairfax opponents.

In total, this week features a mix of district, conference, and region playoff events highlighting sports like volleyball, field hockey, and cross-country. Key matchups to watch include:

  • Boys Soccer: Woodberry Forest will face Bishop O’Connell at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Ice Hockey: Washington-Liberty is set to play against West Springfield at the Prince William Ice Center at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Football Games on Saturday:
    • Bishop O’Connell at Bishop Ireton at noon
    • Wakefield at McLean at 1 p.m.
    • Washington-Liberty at Langley at 4 p.m.
    • Marshall at Yorktown at 5 p.m.
  • Field Hockey: The Washington Catholic Athletic Conference final will take place at Catholic University at 5 p.m.
  • Girls Volleyball: The WCAC final is also scheduled for 6 p.m. at Catholic University.
  • Boys Soccer: The WCAC final will occur at noon, followed by the girls’ match at 2:30 p.m. at Catholic University.
  • 6D North Region Semifinal Matches:
    • Washington-Liberty at Oakton at 7 p.m.
    • Madison at Yorktown at 7 p.m.
  • Girls Soccer: St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes will compete against Bishop O’Connell at 3 p.m. in a state playoff match.
  • Cross Country: Washington-Liberty and Yorktown will hit the course at Burke Lake Park at 2 p.m. for the 6D North Region championship meet.
  • O’Connell is set to participate in the girls and boys private school state meet at Panorama Farms near Charlottesville at 10 a.m.
