Lexington is buzzing with delightful news! O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe, a cherished spot in our downtown area, is making a comeback. After a brief hiatus, the beloved restaurant will throw open its doors again on Monday, October 14. Located at 121 E. Main St., O’Hara’s promises to be your go-to place for breakfast and lunch, welcoming patrons daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m..
As shared on their Facebook page over the weekend, O’Hara’s will offer a menu packed with all the familiar comfort foods we’ve missed. The restaurant is excited to return to its roots as a full-service coffee shop and café, serving up specialty coffees, pastries, and an elevated array of breakfast and lunch items.
One mouthwatering picture shared from the café showcased a delightful breakfast plate featuring eggs, toast, crispy bacon, and golden hash browns. Just imagining it makes my stomach growl!
While many of us adore the desserts that were previously a staple at O’Hara’s, the café has announced that they won’t initially be offering these sweet treats or dessert bar hours. However, they’ve assured us that they’re working diligently behind the scenes and hope to serve up those delicious dessert options in the “not-too-distant future.” So, sweet tooth lovers, stay tuned!
Earlier this year, back on September 22, the café had to announce its temporary closure as owner Matt O’Hara carefully assessed their options for coming back strong. His commitment to creating a viable hospitality business is clearly paying off, and he has shared his excitement about this new chapter for the café.
For those who have been frequent visitors, you’ll be pleased to know that much of the same dedicated staff will remain at O’Hara’s. This continuity of familiar faces is sure to make the experience feel warm and inviting as we all settle back in for some quality food and good company.
O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe is not just a standalone favorite; it has contributed to transforming downtown Lexington into a vibrant food scene. In addition to O’Hara’s Public House—the Irish pub that remains open just a few doors down—the area is home to a variety of popular eateries like Keg Cowboy, Bodhi Thai Dining, and Groucho’s Deli, to name a few.
The downtown streets also boast fantastic shops like Craig Reagin Clothiers and The Kindred Boutique. Plus, the Icehouse Amphitheater always has something exciting happening, and newcomers like TakoSushi have made their mark with a fresh location right at Main and Church streets.
The reopening of O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe is a testament to resilience and community spirit. It’s a chance for all of us to come together again, enjoy hearty meals, and celebrate the local flavors of our beloved Lexington. Mark your calendars for October 14—the café is ready and waiting to serve you with a smile!
