Columbia Welcomes State Christmas Tree, Igniting Holiday Excitement

Columbia Prepares for the Holiday Cheer with State Christmas Tree Arrival!

Hey there, Columbia! The holiday season is *right around the corner*, and you know what that means? That’s right! It’s time to welcome our very own state Christmas tree, making its grand entrance tomorrow morning! The excitement in the air is palpable, and folks around town are buzzing about their favorite parts of this festive time of year.

Community Spirit is Alive and Well

When chatting with residents about what they’re looking forward to this holiday season, it’s clear that the reason for the season goes beyond the gifts. Local resident Mary Catherine Branch shares, “I love the holidays! There’s something about this time of year—the leaves falling, it getting a little chillier, and quality time together. We like to do an advent guide, and we light candles each week leading up to Christmas.” Sounds magical, right?

But wait, it doesn’t stop there! Local mom Kelly Tabor chimed in with her holiday thoughts. “Being with family, that’s the number one thing,” she says enthusiastically. “The great food, gifts are kind of secondary. I’ll put it this way: I love giving gifts. I don’t really care what I receive, but I love to see the excitement, especially on children’s faces as they open up gifts.” Aww, that’s what the holidays are truly about!

Food, Glorious Food!

Speaking of excitement, food is at the top of many people’s lists during this time of year. Tabor told us about her family’s scrumptious holiday meals, saying, “We have to have Christmas dinner! We do Christmas breakfast, which entails country ham, eggs, grits, of course, hash browns, homemade biscuits and gravy, and then, preserves—every type of preserves!” Now that’s a feast worth celebrating!

Tree Arrival Sparks Holiday Cheer

As the state Christmas tree comes to life on the north lawn of the State House, it’s sure to serve as a beautiful reminder that the holiday season has officially arrived. “I think it’s going to be a huge reminder that the holidays are just around the corner, and people need to get with it and start buying!” Tabor emphasizes with a laugh.

The excitement will culminate with the annual Governor’s Carolighting Ceremony, where the tree will be officially lit up on Sunday, November 24th. This beloved event features festive music, heartwarming carols, and the twinkling lights of the tree will surely set the mood for a joyful holiday season ahead.

Festivities for Everyone!

Let’s not forget, Columbia! This holiday season is all about togetherness and making memories to cherish. Whether you’re counting down the days with an advent calendar, sharing delicious home-cooked meals, or gathering your family around to see the joy in children’s eyes as they unwrap their presents, there’s something truly special about this time of year.

So, let’s embrace the holiday spirit and get ready for the fun, joy, and cheer that awaits us! As we prepare to welcome our state Christmas tree, let’s spread the love and warmth of the season to everyone around us. Happy holidays, Columbia! Let’s make this season one to remember!
