Gamecocks Welcome Transfer from Arkansas for 2024-25 Season

South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley has announced the latest addition to the Gamecocks’ roster – Maryam Dauda. The 6-foot-4 forward will be transferring from Arkansas and is set to bring her talents to South Carolina for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year.

Exceptional Talent and Skill Set

Coach Staley is excited about Dauda’s arrival, highlighting her versatile skill set that promises to make a significant impact on the team. With an ability to score both inside and from the perimeter, Dauda’s presence on the court is expected to bring a new dimension to the Gamecocks’ game.

Impressive Track Record

During her time at Arkansas, Dauda averaged 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds as a redshirt sophomore. She showcased her abilities in a matchup against South Carolina, where she scored 19 points. Known for her defensive prowess as well, Dauda led the team in field goal percentage, blocks, and offensive rebounds in the 2023-24 season.

McDonald’s All-American in High School

Prior to her college career, Dauda was recognized as a McDonald’s All-American and was a semifinalist for Naismith High School Player of the Year. Her impressive high school performance, which included multiple all-conference selections and all-state honors, set the stage for her success at the collegiate level.

Excitement for the Upcoming Season

Joining Dauda on the Gamecocks’ roster are freshmen Joyce Edwards and Madisen McDaniel, along with early enrollee Adhel Tac. The addition of Dauda further strengthens South Carolina’s lineup and sets the stage for an exciting 2024-25 season.
