A blustery day on Wheeler Beach did not deter the University of South Carolina’s beach volleyball team as they secured two impressive victories on Sunday to close out the Carolina Challenge.
The Gamecocks started the day by defeating New Orleans with a score of 6-5 in the morning session. The team then went on to sweep Eastern Kentucky (6-6) to improve their season record to 7-5 after three weeks of action.
“It was a fantastic day of volleyball for our team. I’m proud of the way our players battled through the challenging conditions to come out with two big wins,” said Coach Smith.
The Gamecocks will hit the road for their final two weekends of competition in March, starting with the Sugar Beach Bash hosted by Southeastern Louisiana. The tournament will feature matchups against Tulane, UAB, Boise State, and the host Lions.
