If football isn’t exactly your jam, don’t sweat it! It’s Labor Day Weekend, and there’s a whole lot happening beyond the field. Some of you lucky folks are even off work and school on Monday, September 2 – woohoo! So, let’s consider this weekend as the last big bash before things get crazy with holiday decorations and pumpkin spice vibes everywhere.

Farmers Market Fun

Start off your weekend by checking out the Forest Acres Farmers Market happening from 2-6 p.m. at 24 Forest Lake Place. Dive into fresh produce straight from local farms, and don’t forget to browse the arts and crafts stalls. Oh, and you can grab a bite from the food trucks while you’re at it!

Art and Culture

If art interests you, make your way to the Columbia Museum of Art for a free guided tour of their new exhibition titled (Un)Settled. The tour runs from 2-3 p.m. and dives into what it really means to be American. Pretty cool, right?

Evening Entertainment

Don’t miss the Meeting Street Artisan Market from 4-8 p.m. at 425 Meeting St. in West Columbia. It’s the perfect spot to check out local artisans and grab a drink from nearby breweries while enjoying some food from local restaurants.

If you’re in the mood for something special, stop by the Columbia Museum of Art from 4-7 p.m. for their Spritz Mix Happy Hour. You can concoct your own spritz drinks and groove to some tunes with a DJ while enjoying free access to the gallery.

Party with the Stars

How about some live music? Hootie & the Blowfish are back in town for their Summer Camp with Trucks Tour at the Colonial Life Arena. If you’re more into Taylor Swift, make your way to the Icehouse Amphitheater for the Taylor Nation Tribute Show. Sing your heart out, grab some food, and enjoy a fabulous evening!

Food Lovers Unite!

And if you’re a foodie, don’t miss the Foodees Food & Culture Festival at the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds taking place all weekend long. With over 60 food trucks and 50+ artisans, this festival is a dream come true for anyone who loves great food and local crafts.

Family Fun

Looking for activities for the kiddos? Check out the Little Red Riding Hood shows at the Columbia Marionette Theatre at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. It’s a quirky twist on the classic tale that the whole family can enjoy!

The Spirit of the Midlands Festival is also happening from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, providing great community vibes with music, games, and food in the Old Shandon neighborhood.

Wrap Up the Weekend

Finally, head over to The Venue for The Revue: Drag Brunch Edition where you can chill, sip mimosas, and watch some fabulous performances by local queens. That runs from noon to 3:30 p.m.!

Let’s Not Forget Sports

Before we say goodbye to the weekend, remember the USC Gamecocks take on Old Dominion at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium. This surely has the potential to set the tone for an exciting season ahead!

Of course, if you want a dash of speed, NASCAR has got you covered at the famous Darlington Raceway. Grab tickets and relish the thrill of racing – it’s going to be a blast!

So, whether you’re hitting the stadium to cheer for your team, attending a festival, or just soaking up some sun, make the most of this Labor Day Weekend in Columbia!
