Circle K Plans New Location in Lexington County

Lexington, South Carolina, is abuzz with exciting news as one of the most recognized convenience store brands, Circle K, is setting its sights on a new location along a busy roadway. This new store is proposed for the northeast corner of Augusta Highway and Wise Ferry Road and has already caught the attention of local residents and officials. With so much activity around town, this could be a great addition for those always on the go!

What We Know So Far

Details of this project emerged from the Lexington County Planning Commission’s agenda packets, where it was listed among upcoming commercial projects for both September and October. Recently, the planning commission confirmed that the project has submitted stormwater management fees. This indicates that the project is moving through the necessary stages, although we might still be a bit away from seeing shovels in the ground.

Circle K has its roots in Texas, beginning operations back in 1951. Since then, it has spread its wings and now boasts nearly 7,000 locations across the United States and now has stores in various countries, including Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Circle K stores are known for offering a wide variety of items essential for a busy lifestyle, including coffee, soda, snacks, and even car care items.

Some Fun Facts

If you’re a movie buff, you might remember Circle K from the classic 1989 film “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”. Who could forget when Ted Logan, played by Keanu Reeves, noted that “strange things are afoot at the Circle K”? Talk about an iconic moment!

Location Details

The proposed site, right on Augusta Highway, is known to be a busy thoroughfare where about 24,000 cars travel each day. This bustling location is just about a mile east of Lexington High School and surrounded by restaurants, doctor’s offices, and cozy neighborhoods. It’s hard to think of a better place for a new convenience store that caters to both locals and commuters alike!

What’s Next?

While excitement brews over this upcoming Circle K location, the project is still early in its stages. Frank Cason, CEO of Cason Development Group— the current owner of the property—has shared that construction is likely to kick off in 2025. So while we eagerly await the grand opening, it’s clear that this new addition will bring a sense of convenience to the community.

A Growing Presence in the Area

Circle K isn’t stopping with just one new location in Lexington. They are currently also constructing another store at 1512 North Lake Drive. It seems the convenience store chain is making a significant footprint in the local area, and residents are progressively leaning toward shopping at their stores for quick and easy purchases.

Community Impact

More Circle K stores in the area mean more options for everyone in the surrounding neighborhoods! Whether it’s grabbing your morning coffee on the way to work or picking up a late-night snack, having convenience stores like Circle K accessible can make life just a tad easier for busy residents.

As we look forward to the arrival of this new Circle K store, it certainly feels like a win-win for the community. We can’t wait to see how this project unfolds and how it eventually transforms the local landscape of Lexington County!
