"Football Under Rain"

Cincinnati High School Football Week 6 Roundup

This past week in Cincinnati, the high school football field saw the return of competitive action despite the lingering effects of Hurricane Helene. Several games were delayed or postponed, but when the rain subsided, the games kept fans on the edge of their seats. Here’s a look at the standout performances and exciting results from Week 6.

The Lakota East Thunderhawks claimed a decisive 50-23 win over Middletown. This victory placed them back in a tie for first place in the conference alongside Princeton and Lakota West. Key players included Ryder Hooks, who scored three rushing touchdowns, and quarterback J.T. Kitna, who threw touchdown passes to Zion Neal and Patrick McFarlane. Looking ahead, the Thunderhawks will face Lakota West on October 18.

Sparking excitement, the Lakota West Firebirds demolished Colerain with a stunning score of 52-0. Meanwhile, the Princeton Vikings bested Fenwick 35-7, marking their fourth consecutive win after a rocky start. Notably, Badin previously didn’t allow Fenwick to score until the final minutes of the game, showcasing their solid defense.

Over in McNicholas, a 42-23 victory against Chaminade Julienne highlighted strong performances by Braden Bobo, who passed for two touchdowns and added another rushing score, while Caleb Naumann contributed three rushing touchdowns. The Rockets now sit at an impressive 5-1, riding a five-game winning streak. An anticipated matchup against Princeton in Week 10 could be vital in the race for league honors.

In historic news, Ryan Knigga, head coach at Lawrenceburg, celebrated a significant milestone by notching his 125th win with a 24-0 success over Batesville, making him the winningest coach in the school’s history, taking the title from his former mentor.

The Warriors came alive this week, scoring 34 points in a commanding victory against New Richmond. After struggling through the first five weeks with just 4.4 points per game, they stepped up when it mattered most.

Hamilton had a triumphant return, shutting out Princeton 34-0 and limiting their rivals to just 46 yards of offense, marking their first win against the Vikings in eight attempts. The Kings Knights bounced back from a tough loss by defeating Lebanon 38-20, with standout performances by Carson Lindholm who rushed for 121 yards and four touchdowns.

Rounding out the week, the Spartans marked their fourth consecutive win thanks to a 31-14 win over Ross, with a standout senior delivering a top-tier performance. Overall, Week 6 has proven to be an action-packed week with promising matchups and thrilling results, igniting excitement as the season moves forward.
